Who else in the class of 61 had an artist for a mom, was a Quaker and went on to live in Kenya?
After attending Earlham College, Madi married Greg Jaynes, a New York Times correspondent stationed in Kenya. They had several adventurous years there before returning to the States and living in Savannah, GA – an equally quirky locale!

Once settled in New York, Madi worked as a fact checker/proof reader for Time magazine and became a devotee of yoga which she was certain would preserve her to a ripe old age. Most unfortunately, cancer had other plans for her and she passed away in late 2002. Fortunately, her vibrant interest in the world and people around her, coupled with a wicked sense of humor, continued to the end.

In my mind I always see her with pug nose and huge, radiant smile adding a warm, unique perspective to any surrounding and it certainly won’t be the same reunion without her.
