Sharon Cahn
February 1961
Sharon Cahn had an unforgettable birthday December 7th a day we will always remember. Just as that date is unforgettable, so was her energy-filled yet brief life. Sharon had a remarkably quick wit, somewhat biting humorous streak and a genuine love of life. She enjoyed a good joke, fun times with her friends and special quiet moments spent with her younger brother. Always ready for the next adventure, she loved being the life of the party. But there was a serious side to her as well. Sharon was a loyal and dependable friend who always spoke her mind and defended her beliefs.
We (the editorial staff) remember hilarious creative writing sessions for the feature column of the Miller newspaper, crazy trips into NYC to shop or play, the wonderful summers at Camp Adventure Helaine Meyers and I shared with her and just hanging out and laughing together! Times were never dull and boring when Sharon was around.
As one of the greatest song writers of our era proclaimed she was a candle in the wind whose flame went out long before its time.
When Sharon Cahn suddenly passed away I lost more than a really close friend and neighbor, I lost the adolescent belief that I was immortal and therefore entitled to live forever weren’t we all???
