Tom Curto

March 26, 2009

Tom Curto, our very special Turtle, was just a nice guy who came from Pittsburgh and became one of our favorites in the Class of 1961. Turtle was always in my life with Lloyd from 1959 until his death in March of 2009. They were such good buddies and even up until Lloyd’s death, conversed on the phone and laughed about the same stories they recalled from 45 years ago. As I watched Turtle help carry Lloyd’s casket, I knew their bond was sealed forever.

When Tom’s wife, Betsy, died in June of 1990, Lloyd and I flew to California to attend her funeral. Sad as Turtle was he now had their wonderful daughter, Jenny, to raise alone. HE DID A MAGNIFICENT JOB as Jenny has become a wonderful woman in this world! She and Tom had a very special relationship and his death served to pass on the very goodness of him to Jenny.

I miss Turtle. I can only hope that he and Lloyd are still laughing about those same stories together.
